Morgan's "Souper" Bowl

Last month Morgan had the opportunity to paint her first piece of pottery for her day care's Souper Bowl charity fundraiser. I am the proud Mama who gets to show you this...

Morgan chose a pretty orange (that turned to tan) and turquoise to paint her bowl, with some help from her teachers to add the swirls. She is so very proud of her bowl, and I am so very proud of her. Yesterday Morgan got to take her Daddy, Nannie, and Big Pop to the Souper Bowl event. They had a great time eating, looking at all of the bowls, and bidding on raffle prizes. We also won, through the raffle, the chance for Morgan and 7 of her friends to go to The WOW Factory (who donated the bowls) and paint their own pottery pieces. I am looking forward to taking Morgan and her friends for Morgan's birthday in June.

A Visit from James

Friday Morgan got to spend about 3 hours with her good friend James. She had such a great time playing with him here in my office and at the restaurant. It's clear when watching them that they both miss each other a lot. Morgan treats him like I imagine she would treat a little brother. She hugs him, bosses him, instructs him, and he takes it all in stride. He's such a good friend! Morgan has already been talking about seeing him again. I think we'll be making a trip down in the spring for sure.

Yes, ladies and gents, that was a slinky once...

Here are a few glimpses of Morgan's fun in the snow this past Monday.

When the lights go out...

It's been an interesting weekend here at the Tenney household. Friday evening/Saturday morning early we lost power as the snow continued to rain down on our neck of the woods. 45 hours and 26 inches later, we finally got power back. Morgan got a lot of quality time with Mommy and Daddy since there wasn't much we could do as far as cleaning/computer work. Morgan and her Daddy played dominoes and built potato heads. Morgan and I played "castle" with her princesses and we made bead necklaces. It's rare (and sad) that we get to spend some individual one-on-one time with Morgan, and I think we all liked it!

Today we were all home as work and school were closed. Morgan went outside to play in the snow with her Daddy. She made a snow angel and helped shovel the driveway. Then we all put on bathing suits (yes, you read that right) and headed to the WVU Student Rec Center's pool. I had been promising her we'd go swimming all week, and we finally got the time to go. Finally we just walked back in the door from another WVU basketball game. While we have all enjoyed the quality time, we're all a little stir crazy and Morgan's listening ears have stopped working. We hope that a good night's rest and a return to normal routine will help with this minor problem :)

We have been thinking about placing Morgan into either a gymnastics class or ballet class. Morgan recently attended classmate's birthday party at the gymnastics center in town and ran solid for an hour. She seemed to have a wonderful time. I think she's ready to get into an organized class, but we may hold off until the fall. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, feel free to leave them!

The last thing I want to mention is a little project that I worked up for Morgan. She's been really into birthdays lately, always wondering when hers is going to be. I took a desk calendar and cut out pictures of our close family and some of Morgan's friends. I placed these pictures on the calendar and we are crossing off days until each person's birthday. If you want to see more about this, visit our family blog to see a picture of what March's calendar page looks like. We hope you have a good, and snow-free week. We hope it's snow-free too!
