Memorial Day Weekend

What a wonderful weekend we had together as a family, enjoying each others company, and remembering the reason we have the freedom to do so.  We spent the weekend in Webster Springs with Great-Grandma June and Great-Grandpa Ralph, Aunt Amy, Uncle Chris, Julia, and Kole.

Morgan, as always, had a great time with her best friend.  They were fairly inseparable the entire weekend.  And they hardly fought either!  The girls enjoyed the pool, colored lots of pictures, played with their American Girls, and mother henned Kole.

Friday afternoon Patrick took the kids to the fireman's parade in "downtown" Webster.  They all had a good time.  The girls rolled down the hill before the parade, danced, and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

On Sunday we headed over Point Mountain to Elkins to celebrate Morgan's friend Lydia's 6th birthday.  Morgan REALLY enjoyed the bounce house and hitting the pinata.  The party ended just before the rain began and we had a soggy trip home, but it was a good day overall.

Morgan gets to spend the coming week with Great-Grandma June and Great-Grandpa Ralph because day care will not start for another week.  She is SUPER excited about getting to stay there all by herself.  I know June and Ralph are excited as well, although I am not sure they are ready for all the energy our little gal brings with her! :)  She is also looking forward to the next week when she gets to spend the week with Nannie and Julia while attending Vacation Bible School at Nannie's church.  Morgan's summer sure is starting off with a bang!

Kindergarten Graduation

Today Morgan officially ended her first school year by graduating from Kindergarten!  It is so hard to believe that she is already done with a year of school and will be SIX in 5 short weeks.  My my, how the time has flown by.

The graduates were absolutely adorable today during their graduation ceremony.  Morgan was delighted to have Mama, Daddy, and Aunt Linda there to watch her.  Linda and I got a front row seat, directly in front of Morgan, so I was able to get perfect pictures and video while Patrick recorded the entire thing from the back of the cafeteria.  It was a standing room only crowd for the 49 kids from 2 Kindergarten classrooms.

Below are a couple of songs that the kids sang during the program.  The first is my absolute favorite.  Enjoy!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all my favorite Moms and soon-to-be Mom's!  It's been a wonderful day for me so far.  Morgan has been such a sweetheart, which is not unusual, but she has really been thoughtful today.  This morning, ALL BY HERSELF, she fixed me breakfast in bed.  Her Daddy was not home (as he had run out to get my some donuts for breakfast) so she got in the pantry, got out the Multi-grain Cheerios, poured me a bowl, added some chunked up raw carrots (yes, that's right, carrots) and brought it to me with some day old water that she hadn't drank yesterday :)  I was so touched.

At school she made me a beautiful card and a pretty dish.  I plan to use it as a jewelry dish in my bathroom.

On Thursday Morgan gave me the most touching note.  She did it by herself, even the spelling.  She brought it over to me, and I almost cried!  She's always had a caring heart, and she always thinks of others.  What a blessing this child has been to me!

We spent the day with my Aunt Linda in Buckhannon, our annual Mother's Day tradition for about 4 years now.  It's always so great to go down there and spend some time with Aunt Linda.  Patrick took a nap, Morgan played, and Aunt Linda and I had a great game of Scrabble!  I got some beautiful flowers from my parents.  Patrick and Morgan bought me some pretty plants.  I got some pretty jewelry from Aunt Linda.  All in all, it's been the best Mother's Day yet!

Circus/Chuck E Cheese

It's circus time once again!  Time for our annual get together with the Wamsleys in Charleston to get some good (I am being very sarcastic) food, have a great time (not sarcastic) and watch an awesome circus!

First we headed to Chuck E. Cheese for the girls to run out some energy before asking them to sit still for 2.5 hours :)  Morgan LOVES Chuck E. Cheese.  I mean, this girl talks about it ALL. THE. TIME!  She wants to have a birthday party there.  Thank goodness there isn't one even remotely close to our house!

Even the Mommies and Daddies had a good time playing the games and cheering on the girls.

We hit the circus just in time to get on the floor for the pre-show.  It was an amazing show, as in the past.  I can't wait until next year!

Catching Up

For all those fans of Miss Morgan who have been waiting eagerly for an update, I am SO SORRY that there hasn't been an update on this site for almost TWO months (GASP!).  As many of you know, we purchased a house on Feb 24th and I have been so consumed with the move that there hasn't been any time to blog.  So here is a quick catch up for everyone.

Early in February our little girl had a fight with the asphalt on her way to the mail box.  As you can see, she did not come out the victor.  She cried for just a few minutes and then was her happy, smiling self, scraped face, black eye, and all.

While we prepared to move to our new house, Morgan kept busy.  She helped a lot with the packing, did a little cheering on of her mom, posed for pictures, and generally kept herself busy.  Poor thing has had to play by herself A LOT in the past four weeks since Patrick and I have been so busy packing/unpacking/arranging.

While Morgan (and Mama) were a little sad to leave the old house, we were excited to start our new adventure in a home of our own.  Here we are on closing day, on the porch of our home.

Morgan was the one to unlock the door for the first time...

Our first meal in our new house was a pizza picnic on the floor with our friends Josh and Anna Robinson.  Morgan LOVED running around the empty house.  And making carpet angels.  And stretching out on the blanket in the bare living room.

Anyone want a kiss???

Morgan has also been a big help at the new house.  She was excited to help paint her room.  We transformed her room from navy and greenish-yellow to white with hot pink trim.  As soon as I can get the pictures off my phone I'll add them of the room in progress.

She also wasn't afraid to don gloves and help out with washing down the walls either!

It's been a very busy two months.  We are so excited to be going to Florida on the 30th for Morgan's first trip to Disney.  It is a total surprise for her, and I can't wait to catch her face on video when she finds out.  Stay tuned for lots of Disney pictures and videos.  I hope to update while we are there, so check back the first week of April for more pictures of our trip!

We've Moved!

It's official now, we have moved back into West Virginia and are preparing to spend the first night in our new home!  Today was a crazy day, with lots of funny antics and lots of people running around.  We had some SURPRISE movers, our dear friends Jim and Lori, who drove all the way from South Carolina to help us move!  It was a great surprise, and we definitely needed the extra hands.  I cannot say thank you enough to ALL the people who helped us out, especially Josh and Anna Robinson, and my amazing Aunt Linda.

All in all the day went well.  Of course it rained some, so we had to deal with that.  But we had enough movers to station people both inside and outside so there was minimal mud dragged inside.  By far the hardest thing to move was the piano!  Those guys belly-ached the entire time :)  It was funny to watch these four men try to move my little piano.  Of course, it's OLD and weighs a ton.  They all swore they were not moving it again, no matter what I paid them!

I surprised Morgan with some brand new bedding for her new room.  She was really excited.  So I'll sign off for now because I have pizza boxes to pick up and a few things to do before I fall exhausted into bed.  So very excited to be spending the first night in our home!
